A country park on the tip of Mersea Island combining nature walks, coastal exploration and a WW2 trail that leads past an enterable pillbox on the way to the beach. The wooden adventure playground sits next to the car park and cafe, split into three grassy-based play spaces built around sand or stone, suited to pre-school age and up (not enclosed): large wooden climbing frames, rope climbs, balancing beams, slides, climbing walls and sand pulleys. The beach itself is a short, flat walk away — a mix of sand and stone, good for shell and fossil hunting. A small takeaway cafe sells hot and cold drinks, ice creams and snacks, and there are public toilets with accessible and baby-change facilities.
